- In 1893- The first succesful open heart surgery without anesthesia was perfromed by Dr Daniel Hale Williams at Provident Hospital in Chicago
- In 1955- E. Frederic Morrow appointed administrative aide to President Eisenhower and became the first Black to hold an executive position on the White House staff.

I think that the dialogue between police officers and the black community has to get better, but not better in a way where, 'Oh, let's talk about it when something horrible happens.' The dialogue has to be going on consistently, every day.
